
UP AN’ AT ‘EM! HISTORY are running a unique experience day at London Southend Airport in conjunction with the Vulcan Restoration trust so that YOU can become a Vulcan crew member for the day!
The event gives you a fantastic hands-on experience as you not only discover the history of the Vulcan but get kitted out in authentic equipment as crews would have worn during the Falklands War!
From flying helmets to flying suits, you’ll get your briefing for the Black Buck mission before boarding the aircraft and finding out what it was like inside…
Take home a free photo from the day from the pilot’s seat as a great souvenir!


There are two session per day that can be booked each lasting 3 hours. There are 5 tickets available for each session.
Session 1
Arrival 0930 – 12:30 Finish (3 hours)
Session 2
Arrival 13:00 – 16:00 Finish (3 hours)
On arrival, group members will be offered light refreshments on arrival and throughout the day.
Our itinerary for the morning session look like this:
9.30 – 10 – Arrival – Flying suit issue
10 Formal Welcome, Health and Safety brief, session overview
10.10 Vulcan History
10.25 Flying gear. Get dressed for combat and find out about the different types of equipment. Get assigned your crew position!
11.05 External Vulcan tour looking at key points and relating them to the Black Buck raid
11.35 Mission Brief, Black Buck 82
11.50 Crew up! Participants will get on board and find out the different roles of the crew
12.25 exit the aircraft and get changed
12.30 end
The format is repeated in the afternoon.
Tickets are £90 per person.
If you have family or friends who may wish to join you during the day, then separate associate tickets can be purchased at £20.
This will include refreshments and the talks internally but not the dressing up or internal tours of the Vulcan.
